Conshohocken BPW is proud to recognize Donna M. Jones as this year’s Woman of the Year.  Donna’s can-do attitude and extraordinary volunteer spirit at work and in her community, church and BPW, epitomizes what a Woman of the Year can accomplish. 

CURE FOR CANCER:  Donna has participated in the Susan G. Komen for the Cure walk (>20 yrs) and the Light the Night Walk to End Cancer. Donna has also volunteered for the ACS, including Daffodil Days and Relay For Life. She has been a volunteer for the National Hemophilia Association, Chester Chapter, the MS Bike to Shore event, the Recording for the Blind, and she also participated in the Walk for Autism, the AHA 5K Walk and the Biggest Loser Walk in 6/15. 

AN END TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:  Donna found our October 2013 program: the Rachel & Troy Foundation. At the meeting, Ron and Sue Gamza gave us a presentation about the Foundation and how domestic violence personally touched them. As a result, the Local donated money to Laurel House and Mission Kids. This past fall, Donna and Sue spearheaded a District-­wide pillow drive to be donated to the women of Laurel House. The pillows totally filled up Donna’s SUV! 

MORE SUPPORT FOR WOMEN VETERANS:  Donna chaired several committees (>10 years) that supported the Norristown Vietnam Veterans Group and was a member of a Friends/Family team. She volunteered at the Vietnam War Memorial (Washington), several LAOH veterans’ events and as a St. Matthew Parish member, she works cleaning up the cemetery, gathering flags and pieces for disposal. As a Local BPW member, Donna has supported our women veteran’s projects: The Mary Walker House and the Veterans’ Center of Montgomery County. 

EQUALITY FOR ALL WOMEN:  Through her work, church, LAOH and BPW, Donna has chaired numerous food drives, volunteered at food banks, and supported fundraising meals. Donna worked on several Habitat for Humanity projects, volunteered on an Extreme Home Makeover home, and has volunteered at The Conshohocken FunFest. Donna has been a BPW member for 10 years and currently serves as Local Legislation Chair and Website Coordinator, District Corresponding Secretary and State Scrapbook Chair. Donna has also served as District Director when our District Green Fair was instituted. She has participated in our District Reality Store, and is on the World Affairs Luncheon Committee. Donna is trained as an IDP facilitator and competed in the BPW/PA IDP Speak-­Off. 

LEGISLATION TO EMPOWER WOMEN:  Donna is currently working to increase awareness of and participation in advocacy efforts on behalf of working women. She worked on several women legislative forums with Goucher College alumnae and worked on several college committees to spread the word to register and vote. 

PERSONAL:  Donna holds a B.A. in American Studies from Goucher College, Towson, MD. She has been Class Manager for her graduating class for 35 years and Alumnus member for 30 years. Donna served as LAOH Treasurer (3 years) and as Chair, St. Patrick’s Day Parade Dinner (> 5 years). She is an active member of St. Matthew’s parish, serving as Council member(>12 years), Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister (20 years), CCD teacher (10 years), a St. Vincent DePaul Society member (8 years), and as a Prayer Shawl Team member. Donna currently works for Modis Consulting as a Project Manager at Santander Bank in Reading, PA. She is an accomplished project manager and senior business analyst and has an extensive background in the mortgage insurance industry. She is currently attending classes to achieve her Project Management (PMP) certification at Villanova University.
